THE LOTTE PALACE ROOF-TOP BAR

Updated: Sep 25, 2019

With a great view of the Navoi Theater (Opera house) and a great relaxing atmosphere, Lotte City Hotel is a great bar to have a drink and watch the city lights.

From me hotel roof-top bars are usually not my thing, but I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly, relaxed atmosphere of the place, (I definitely felt comfortable in shorts, sandals and t-shirt.) Most people in the bar were tourists and although the Lotte chain of hotels are known for being quiet grand, there was no pressure to dress a certain way.

The hotel does have a restaurant on the ground floor, so the menu at the bar is limited, however it had some great options for causal dinner and drinks.

They have a nice selection of local drinks; beers, vodka, wines and brandy's. The menu consists mostly of grilled meats, and different platters with some starters and side dishes. In terms of a up-market hotels the menu prices were very reasonable.

Bar Menu

I went here with some visiting family, who were staying in the hotel. We started with just having a few drinks and decided to stay for dinner.

We ordered some salads and bread to start, the bread was the traditional Uzbek 'non or lepeshka' bread which was baked in a tandyr (clay oven) on the roof-top kitchen and was warm when it got to the table.

From main we ordered the Shashlik set and the Chicken set, along with the salads and bread this was plenty of food. The Shashlik set consisted of 6 skewers, veg, ground beef, lamb, chicken and beef wrapped in a thin pitta/naan bread. This set was really nice, the meat was very juicy and tender and the veg were nicely barbecued.

The Shasklik Set

The chicken set (un-photographed) was not what we expected, but maybe if we'd had paid more intention to the menu, the dish was pretty obvious. The chicken set was a selection of barbecue grilled chicken legs, and fried chicken legs, chips (french fries) and a simple shredded cabbage and carrot salad. Although the set was very western and not really what we wanted, it tasted good, the chicken was nicely barbecued and chips are chips.

As the evening went on the view became nicer and nicer, with the city starting to light up and as the orchestra from the Navio Theater began their rehearsals. The bar really is a nice evening location to sit with a friend, have a drink and relax.
